If you got your game through a download such as D2D, You have to go to them for any patches. The ones at the official site will not work because of the D2D copy protection. Programs like OBSE will probably not work because of the D2D copy protection. There is a special OBSE for the Steam version though. If you have a pirate version, sorry about your luck. Don't be so cheap, buy the game. If you have the Game of the Year version, you don't need a patch as long as you have installed Shivering Isles.
For some reason, Beth put the Oblivion Patchin the Shivering isles install instead of the Oblivion install. To find what version you have, look in the lower left corner on the loading screen. If it shows v1.2.0416 you already have the latest patch. You only need to install the latest patch, v1.2.0416, all of the stuff from earlier patches are included. If you have Shivering Isles, DO NOT use the Oblivion patch, ONLY use the latest Shivering Isles patch. All of the oblivion stuff is included.
There is only one English version SI patch for both US & UK versions. If you DO NOT have Shivering Isles, use only the latest Oblivion patch for the language version on your original install disk. Omnisphere free download cracked. Be sure to get your patch from the official Bethesda site where they have FREE patches for every language version, There are 2 English versions, UK & US be sure to get the one that matches your disk. Bethesda site:. First, Check to see what version you already have - look in the lower left corner of the brown loading screen. In very small characters it will have the version.
If you have SI and have already used the Oblivion patch - sorry, you will have to reinstall. For some reason, Beth made the version number the same for the Oblivion only patch and for the combined SI/Oblivion version. Making them incompatible.

The patch installer only looks at the version number, if it sees the same number, it 'assumes' you have already patched your game and gives the error message that a file of the same name already exists. If you are getting a different error - as you said, 'Old file does not exist' I would suspect there is something missing from your installed version. Or possibly a corrupted Windows registry entry. Try uninstalling and reinstalling using this procedure.

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus. Actually the troubles patching with Oblivion's 1.2.0416 over SI is that patch will break it deeply. That patch gives pure Oblivion many things introduced by Shivering Isles but can do it only in a different way SI implements.
So BBen is right, the better is installing the game again from scratch. Skip all previous patch, use only the last one for your game and locale.

Probably patching a German version with the English one is bad Idea. Repeating: if you have SI 'do not' patch with Oblivion's ones. Go directly for the SI.
Since you are positive it is version 1.0 so it mean you do not have SI at this point and if not planning to install it you must use the patch for Oblivion.
Okay, I un-install and re-install Oblivion each time I'm going to web-browse (which I admit is a bit dumb, I think it might have been what caused this problem.) So when I attempted to install Oblivion again, it installs correctly and stuff, double click the launcher, and the whole Play, Data Files, Options thing comes up, click play: Debug closes it, so that doesn't help. When I click the blue text that says 'click here' this comes up: Click blue text AGAIN: What it completely says: (Wall of text below. I dunno if it'll help. I don't even understand it.) DXREDIST is a folder I found when right-clicking Oblivion and explore, if that helps. (If you bothered to read it all.) All of the files listed above (That I tried to understand) are also in the disc. So should I extract those into the Oblivion directory.?
(Another question) Will 31GB be enough to have not so much lag? For Internet browsing and gaming. (I plan on deleting some stuff.).
Installed, all my mods work fine, even the texture ones, just install the patch, then run this and change the dates on all the.bsa files & the oblivion.esm back to their original 24/01/06 dates and all the mods will work the way they used to, simple. Its just the way oblivion loads mods, in date order, but the patch sets the dates of the bsa files to today so thats why your texture stuff doesnt work, also my interface mods work fine too, no problems what so ever. Edit: only 'problem' so far the patch seems to have done is, while keeping all my video settings the way they where, theyve reset my control scheme back to default. Windows Vista and Windows 7 both are odd in of that the program files folder is protected. There are two possible solutions to the missing meshes that don't put your computer at a risk that can be done without reinstalling the game. First is forcing windows to not protect the folder you have Oblivion installed in. I've never done it because I don't have a clue how to do it. Second is install the files by dragging them into your oblivion folder. This forces the computer to ask for admin confirmation on what you're doing, which bypasses the issue of needing to not protect that folder when installing. There are other methods.

One is to just turn of windows account control, which puts your computer at risk(kinda), forcing you to protect your computer without automatic checking by windows. More of a expert option. A good method is to just install the game outside of the Program Files folder. Much better, and since you've just started modding, doing so is virtually painless. Patch For Oblivion 1.0.228 Cheats

Right, so here's the deal: A long time ago, a time when bigots could still have reasoned debates, I bought and installed Oblivion. Didn't really like it and kinda left it to die on my external HDD.
With my new computer, I bumped into the folder again and wanted to give it a try with some mods. Downloaded the '10 most popular mods', but one of 'em, #9, needs the 1.2.
Patch For Oblivion 1.0.228 Walkthrough
It is also the most awesome patch So I download the patch and start to install it when it says it doesn't find the registry key. Bit logical because I switched computer So I search the interwebs and find a fix. Restart patch.exe and suddenly the message 'Old file not found, blablabla, no file update done because contents don't match'. Then I remember that I put a no-DVD crack on it because I lended out the game to my nephew while still playing it, so I just put a crack on it. I know what you're going to say: 'Just reinstall!'
Well, my nephew kinda destroyed my copy (well, he scratched the DVD to, um, oblivion ), so now I'm dead in the water. I'm sitting here with a game I rightfully own and a patch I'm rightfully entitled to but can't install. I can't torrent it because I'm at my bandwidth limit (which resets only at the end of each month). So I need your help D: TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ, LOL: Upload the 'Oblivion.exe', if possible v.1.0.228 (but I don't mind another), and PM it (or the link to it) to me. Many thanks and buttsehcs will ensue. When I re-installed Windows, Oblivion stopped working.
With all of my other games (lots of games), I was able to right click the exe's of the games, and just add a shortcut to the game to my desktop, and they still worked. None of the games were set up the way I had them though, but that's not really a big deal to set up the audio/video how you like them again. These games store a configuration text file in 'My Documents', and I had a new 'My Documents'. I might be able to screw around with it for a while and figure out how to salvage the install, but I figured a clean install might just be a better idea. I haven't got around to reinstalling it yet though.
